About The Alzheimer’s Caregiver®

The Alzheimer’s Research and Resource Foundation (ARARF) takes great pride in the distribution of The Alzheimer’s Caregiver® to those who need it the most. The Alzheimer’s Caregiver conveys the best of dementia care research in terminology that is easily understood by hands-on caregivers of diverse language and cultural backgrounds. Versions of this educational program are available for free in both English and Spanish.

A large proportion of people with Alzheimer’s need some care, ranging from activities of daily living—such as bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, and helping the person use the toilet or manage incontinence—to full personal care and round the clock supervision. The evidence-based prevention strategies of The Alzheimer’s Caregiver meet the needs of people with Alzheimer’s and their caregivers through all stages of the illness.

The Alzheimer’s Caregiver consists of in-depth modules on everyday topics of importance to caregivers, which include a vast array of videos, photographs, animated, quizzes and graphics, all depicting specific teaching points and reinforcing understanding of caregiving strategies and tips. In The Alzheimer’s Caregiver program, you’ll find:

  • 2,200 pages of material
  • 50 hours of audio clips
  • 850 photographs each of which depicts a specific teaching point
  • 88 videos
  • 68 quizzes to enhance our problem-based learning method

Numerous grants from the National Institutes of Health and the National Institute on Aging were received to help fund the research that led to the development of The Alzheimer’s Caregiver. ARARF continues to cultivate relationships with universities to both promote and obtain cutting-edge research being conducted in the area of dementia and Alzheimer’s care.
